Achieving extremely precise roundness with centerless ground bars is a walk in the park with our advanced centerless grinding solutions
Advance Grinding Services, Inc. continually performs as the demand for closer tolerances on bar diameters and finer surface finishers increases. The use of advanced CNC machines is proper for many purchasing precision ground bars, so we ensure tight diameter tolerance and super-fine surface finishes in every bar and product.
Centerless ground bars can tolerate up to .0001” and have an excellent micro finish. The perfectly ground and polished bar can be made rigidly during the grinding operation. Three-point gages are helpful to ensure the workpiece is in its proper place and at the appropriate hold. Bars may be cold-drawn before ground to meet customers’ demand for specific finished physical properties.
Our metal operators always consider the following factors in grinding centerless ground bars:
- Internal structure
- Hardness
- Depth of decarburization
Considering factors of setting up the wheel is also very important to create a perfect product.
1. Proper distance between the grinding wheel and the regulating wheel
As a three-point positioning valuable method in the process, the proper distance between the wheels is a must! This will provide bar size consistency and an accurate surface finish in every workpiece.
2. Regular grinding wheel dressing
The faulty dressing can lead to fine, uneven, or wavy traverse lines, leaving ragged wheel edges. Diamond-dressed wheels should have good maintenance at an even rate. Due to the thorough grinding, grains become dull, so wheels should be redressed sometimes.
3. Type of abrasive grains
Diamond grains are the best choice in grinding since diamonds are sharp and hard to break. They should not be allowed to dwell on the wheel and should be dressed across the face of the wheel only, starting at the edge.
4. Location of the workpiece between wheels
The workpiece must be appropriately in the process and held between the wheels. The location of the workpiece is critical in achieving that perfect grinding process.
5. Proper Implementation of work support blades
Choose the proper work blades for your process. Change the edges to a softer material. Using steel, aluminum, bronze, or cast iron is best.
Each operation phase thoroughly monitors all bar products’ correct tolerance and surface finish. Proper surface grinding is a possible understanding of the fundamentals of grinding, and we excel in all our operations.
