17-4PH Stainless Steel Round Bar Stock

17-4PH Stainless Steel Bar Stock

17 4 PH is a widely used age-hardening steel. It has an excellent combination of hardness, high strength, and resistance to corrosion.

17-4PH stainless steel is part of the precipitation hardening (PH) steel.

The precipitation-hardening (PH) category of steel is a family of alloys that has a moderate level of corrosion resistance subjected to heat treatment to increase their yield strength.

As such, it can further increase its hardness and strength characteristics through additions of titanium, niobium, or vanadium which helps in forming intermetallic precipitation during the heat treatment.

In turn, these precipitation-hardened steels have been increasingly used in a variety of industry applications most especially those in marine construction, aerospace and aircraft construction, and even chemical and nuclear power plants.

Here in Advance Grinding Services, we offer various finishing services for your precision bars, including polishing, chamfering, and packaging. These services also come together with our grinding services to properly provide our clients with the 17-4PH stainless steel round bar stock perfect for their intended applications.

17-4 Round Bar Steel Purchaser

Advance Grinding Services stocks 17-4 PH stainless steel round bars for use in high resistance and high strength environments. They are also perfect for applications that require high resistance to galling, high fatigue strength, resistance to seizing and stress corrosion. 17-4PH is suitable for intricately manufactured parts which require extensive welding and machining, or where there exists a problem like distortion in conventional heat treatment. 17-4PH corrosion resistance is superior to that straight chromium grades like 416. Its surface finish and an aging heat treatment can affect corrosion resistant properties.

17-4PH PROPERTIES & APPLICATIONS

With 17-4PH known for its good strength and toughness, it is important that proper handling and manipulation of its mechanical and chemical properties bring out the best with it.

As such, Advance Grinding Services use heat treatment to obtain H900, H925, H1025, H1050, H1150 17-4PH stainless steel bar stock.

This stainless steel grade is versatile and readily weldable, machinable, and formable. However, a solution-treated condition is not applicable for 17 4PH sheets of steel. Its fabrication techniques are quite similar to those established for regular stainless steel grades.

17-4PH forges easily and has exceptional welding characteristics. What makes this steel grade applicable to a vast range of uses is the combination of good mechanical and processing properties that is advantageous to many industries.
